ClearDATA Chief Privacy Officer a Featured Speaker on HIPAA Compliance

Phoenix, AZ, September 10, 2013, − ClearDATA Networks, Inc., the leading healthcare cloud computing platform and information security service provider, today announced that its Chief Privacy Officer and SVP of Professional Services, Chris Bowen, MBA, CIPP/US, CIPP/IT, will be a featured speaker for the Radiology Business Management Association (RBM) Fall Educational Conference held September 8-11, 2013 at the Seaport Boston Hotel and World Trade Center in Boston, MA. Mr. Bowen is also a ClearDATA Founder.

Mr. Bowen’s session titled, “HIPAA Compliance for Radiologists in a HITECH World,” will address HIPAA changes required by the HITECH Final Rule with specific focus on appropriate policies and best practices for mobile devices, security considerations for encryption, and Security Risk Assessments.

“Increased regulatory requirements from the Omnibus Rule bring significant security and compliance challenges to hospitals and healthcare organizations of all sizes,” says Mr. Bowen. “Additionally, the proliferation of mobile devices within healthcare introduces significant security risks for ePHI and added management complexities. Session Details

Overview: The session will assess the changes to complying with the HITECH Final Rule, with specific focus on the use of mobile devices, smartphones and tablet devices and the security issues they pose. Key solutions to deal with emailing/texting protected health information, “bring your own device” (BYOD) policies and Security Risk Assessments will be presented.

Chris Bowen Bio

Mr. Bowen is a managed services and experienced compliance executive providing privacy and security guidance to large Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs), software companies, and healthcare executives across the nation. He is one of 3,355 Certified Information Privacy Professionals in the United States (CIPP/US) by the International Association of Privacy Professionals, and one of only 1,113 worldwide with the CIPP/IT certification.

Prior to founding ClearDATA, he founded DirectClarity, a healthcare application services and cloud information security company. As a founder of ClearDATA Networks, Mr. Bowen shared the vision of providing secure, HIPAA compliant cloud hosting and information security services to the healthcare industry.

He understands how to marry public policy with specific technology and operational requirements. Formerly Chris was actively involved in public policy and politics at the national and state levels. After running congressional campaigns, he later completed his MBA while serving as a top advisor to the Arizona Speaker of the House. While employed by the House he was appointed by the Speaker to represent him on the Arizona Internet Privacy Committee, and subcommittee on voter privacy.
